ZOITE STAFF POLICIES ADDING A STAFF MEMBER To add a staff member, all staff members must vote yes. This is to ensure that all current staff members can work as a team with the new members. For admins, it's not as simple as just the vote. The server has to meet certain standards, which change with time. Any staff member can call a vote to add another staff member. Servers with staff preselected before linking will not be an exception to the voting policy, but a trial period can be arranged before the vote. REMOVING A STAFF MEMBER To remove a staff member the majority must vote yes and this option is only to be considered if that staff member is causing problems for the network. In the event of a tie the decision is left to the network administrators. The person being discussed has the right to vote and to be at the vote if it takes place in #core. They also are advised to send an email to staff in self defense. In an emergency an o-line can be temporarily removed before the vote. VOTES Votes are to be held in #core or via staff email. Any staff member has the right to call a vote. Not all members have to be present for a vote unless a new staff member is being added. If it can be safely assumed that no one will object, the staff member can be added without a vote, but an email must still be sent to staff announcing this. If an objection is made, the new member will be removed from staff. It would be better if that never happens, so please call a vote when in doubt. ONCE STAFF ALWAYS STAFF Once staff, always staff. All past staff members unless voted out are always welcome in #core and may request an o-line or there former position at any time. The request will be granted unless their former position is filled, in that case they will be given operator status. We do not delete infrequently used o-lines for security purposes because this often leads to discontent among staff members. No one likes thinking that if they don't do enough, they loose their oline. On small networks IRC operators just don't have alot to do. On large networks they typically ban problematic users and keep the peace. If our IRC operators are bored, consider it a blessing. Most IRC operators eventually become administrators anyway. The only time a network has too much staff, is when a network has bad staff. Zoite staff members are encouraged to be as non-abrasive as possible while still keeping the peace. We also encourage honesty and openness with all network policies. STAFF EMAIL An email is to be sent to staff@zoite.net for all major network decisions and events such as: * All staff changes * Security threats * Permanent g-lines * Habitually abusive users Staff email exists so that everyone is completely aware of each individual situation. Good communication is vital in order for staff to funcion as one unit. All staff members are expected to read staff email on a regular basis. Staff email is archived on my hard drive which can be useful as evidence if logs of all threats have been emailed to staff as requested. Staff@zoite.net must always be open to user comments via email. tRiNiTy Founder and Network Administrator of Zoite IRC Network
